The classic story of Little Red Riding Hood has taken many forms and shades over the years, from the moralism fingers stirring for Charles Perrault by Angela Carter feminist reinterpretation in his short story "The Company of Wolves." Catherine Hardwicke 'Red Riding Hood "is the latest film based on our Face the heroine and her basket full of goodies. Unlike the film adaptation of the story of Carter by Neil Jordan and even more radical is the tale as "Freeway", "Valerie and her week of wonders" and "Hard Candy," "Little Red Riding Hood" remains firmly in the camp of fantasy between where Ren Make high drama is the order of the day.
In this iteration of the tale, our cap-wearing heroine Valerie (Amanda Seyfried), the village is terrorized by Daggerthorn a werewolf every full moon. However, with its instruments of torture and heavily armed soldiers, Solomon brings a growing sense of paranoia and fear in the village as he explains that the werewolf is probably walking among them as a normal human being when n is not that time of the month.
While everyone runs towards their windows and double-close, Valerie has a number of issues to discuss with, and is just a hairy beast. Family skeletons come out of all of their closets with the death of his sister. She is in love with Peter Smokin 'Hot logger (Shiloh Fernandez), but his mother wants him to marry the fantasy rich kid Henry (Max Irons). Just when things could not be more confusing, the corners of Valerie Wolf and her best friend and tries to convince Valerie to leave town with her. He knows, he says, and he knows it has a darkness too. Who, of all people she knows, could be a wolf when the moon grows full? She begins to suspect everyone, and whether the wolf is right. Unfortunately, this simple exchange inter-species is in greater danger than she could have imagined.
Hardwicke is known to have hit the sweet spot when it comes to teen movies, whether on the critically acclaimed ("Thirteen") or indefinitely snarked ("Twilight"). 'Red Riding Hood "is not as bold as the former nor as bloodless as this one. Valerie is not quite a hero and not quite a damsel in distress, and this push-pull-me-feel carries through the entire film. Moments of rocking on the wild side of the folly, as the party scene where the villagers twist of a song by the fabulous Fever Ray, is still the centerpiece of the photo. At the same time, the sequences are visually striking, if not emotionally. The production design is fantastic, but it still looks and feels like a movie shot on a tray.
The film is full of sexual symbolism and sensuality, even if it escapes from the act itself, the very trees bristle with thorns giant pushed to anyone who passes them. "I could eat you," grumbled Peter mid-slow. In his dreams, red velvet cape Valerie Long, lagging behind in the snow as blood. It seems that there was a battle behind the scenes over how the film would be, even for PG-13, it feels awfully tame.
Julie Christie has established itself as Valerie witchy grandmother with long gray dreadlocks, but the rest of the cast is wildly uneven. Gary Oldman seems like it's just phoning it in, barely bother to stop and chew on the scenery. "Time to put on the dress of your wife prostitute," he said Valerie slightly just before putting out bait for the werewolf.
'Red Riding Hood "is a strange brew. Some viewers are too sweet for their tastes, while others who may have enjoyed the romance-fold elevation of all this has been put off by the too-teasing trailers and marketing materials. The plot unravels too quickly and easily to make the journey through the woods entirely satisfactory for those who expect nothing more meat.
